What Rights Does Each Type of Beat License Come With?

 

We offer 4 different types of non-exclusive licenses and one exclusive rights license. Non-exclusive licenses are also commonly referred to as “beat leases.” Although there are limitations to what you can do with each non-exclusive license (see details below) – you keep 100% of the profits you make from selling your songs made with the beats. Unlimited Non-Exclusive licenses do not have those limits.

  9. MOTIO BEATS™ retains full ownership of the beat and can continue to sell more non-exclusive licenses for that beat

What’s The Difference Between Exclusive and Non-Exclusive Licenses?

Non-exclusive licenses (also known as beat leases or leasing rights) have restrictions in number of allowed sales units, earnings, etc., and can be sold to multiple artists at the same time. MOTIO BEATS™ retains full ownership of the beats when these licenses are purchased.
Exclusive rights allows unlimited use of the song you make with it on any medium without any limit on sales, streams, etc! After an exclusive rights license has been sold, that beat will no longer be available for any type of licensing in the future. If you buy exclusive rights to a beat, you become the owner of the beat.

What’s The Difference Between a “2 Track” and “Tracked-Out” Beat?

 

A “2-track beat” aka a “Stereo Beat” is one stereo file.
→ This usually comes in the format of one MP3 or WAV file
A “tracked-out” beat means the instruments of the beat (kick drum, snare, bass, synth, etc) are on separate tracks, also known as “stems.”
→ This will usually come in a zip folder with multiple WAV files

Can I Post My Song On Youtube?

 

If you purchased any of our licenses, you’re allowed to post the song you make with that beat on YouTube!
The non-exclusive license agreement allows you to post the songs you make with the beats on YouTube as music videos, songs with pictures, etc.
Technically we don’t allow Youtube monetization unless you buy the exclusive rights.
Youtube’s content ID system makes it tricky since if you register the song, then Youtube will attempt to to collect advertising revenue from The MOTIO BEATS™’ Youtube channel and anyone else who might have the non-exclusive license.
So we ask that if you distribute the song through CDBaby or a similar service that you don’t use the content ID offer.
You can still post the song to your YouTube channel without any problems.

Why Did I Receive a Notice From Youtube?

 

No need to worry! If you read the notice from Youtube you’ll see that it says you haven’t done anything wrong and your video will continue to run without any restrictions.
Youtube keeps track of audio with a system called “Content ID.” Basically it searches for any matches in audio and then tries to make sure that people are getting the proper credit, information and ad return for their music.
Since you have non-exclusive licenses, Youtube is just letting you know that it detected that you don’t own the music outright or exclusively.
Since you do have permission to use the song with your non-exclusive license, there are no copyright strikes or other penalties against your Youtube account and everything will run smoothly without you having to take any further action.

How Should I Give Credit To The Producer?

I Never Received The Beats That I Bought

 

Where are my beats?
We know this can be frustrating, but we’ll help you get it sorted out ASAP!
All beats should be automatically emailed to you immediately upon purchase.
The most common reasons you might not see your beats are:
Promotions Tab, Spam or Junk Folder
→ Please be sure to check these places for your beats first.
Different Email Address
→ Sometimes you may have a different email address that is associated with the payment account (like Paypal) you used to buy the beats. In these cases, the beats will be sent to that email address. If for some reason, you don’t have access to that email address, just let us know which email the purchase came from and we’ll send it your primary email address.
→ This can also be the result of typos. It happens to the best of us. You get excited about the dope beats you’re about to kill and you enter fireflames@mail.com instead of @Gmail.com. Don’t worry, if this happens just email us at motiobeats@gmail.com and we’ll sort it out.
We Messed Up
→ While extremely rare, we do occasionally mess up. Just shoot us an email at motiobeats@gmail.com and we’ll get you hooked up. Our bad.

Can I Upgrade My Beat License?

 

Yes, you can upgrade your beat license, and we’ll only charge you the difference in price, not the full cost of the upgraded license!
The only reason you wouldn’t be able to upgrade is if the exclusive rights to that beat have been sold.

…and we’ll send you an invoice for the difference in price. Be sure to write from or include the email address you used to make the original purchase.

Where is the Untagged Version of My Beat?

 

Here’s the breakdown of why you may be hearing one or multiple tags in your beat:
No License
If you ripped a beat off youtube, or downloaded the demo from motiobeats.com, you don’t own a license for that beat. You’ll hear tags throughout the entire beat, including “motiobeats.com”, “motiobeats”, etc.
Basic & Premium Licenses
Basic and Premium Licenses come with one tag in the intro. Having one tag in the intro is extremely common in popular music and you’ll hear this in many of the songs topping the charts today. Still, we know not everyone likes this, which is why we offer Professional, Unlimited and Exclusive Licenses.
Professional, Unlimited & Exclusive Licenses
Our Professional, Unlimited and Exclusive licenses come with the option to remove all tags from the beat. In fact, since both of these licenses come with the tracked-out stems, you can customize the beat in any way that you’d like.
→ If you did purchase a professional, unlimited or exclusive license, you’ll find the completely untagged version in the zip folder which also contains the tracked-out stems.

How Can I Find Specific Beat I’m Looking For?

 

If you came across a beat on Youtube, Soundcloud, or somewhere else that you’d like to license, you can search for it by entering the name of the beat in the beat player on our home page at motiobeats.com.
If the beat is not showing up in that player, then we most likely sold the exclusive rights. You can always reach out to us at motiobeats@gmail.com to check, but if it’s not in the player, then 99% of the time it means we already sold the exclusive rights and it’s no longer available.

We do not propose such services for the moment. In a meantime, we suggest you to consider third party solution such as https://www.landr.com/
